My experiments with gprs
Phew! Yet another boring day.
As stated yesterday, bsnl stands the best provider for me. So if something is best, the next what we do is to loot the maximum out of it. Lol yes, im talking about the hacks.
Bsnl has been known to have the most complex billing systems and activation systems. Well according to me, they aren’t. Mine is a plan exclusive to students, with advantages of 2000 free sms per month, reduced call rate etc… But i guess i am a little extra special. I don’t know how, but i can send free sms to uk and a few sms services like google, gupshup, mytoday etc… My gprs was activated when i had only 1rs balance, my cellone sim services are all free and of all the wonders, my gprs usage including download, upload and browsing is completely totally free !!!
I think the other bsnl users having above 200rs balance can use the cellone portal settings and browse for free. This obviously doesn’t work with access points… So those having dreams of connecting via pc or using opera mini can bow their heads down. But newer phones of nokia come with opera as the built in browser, like my 2600c . It can do pretty good speed and sad that streaming needs access point, else, it would have been fun with youtube also free ……
Now you might get the reason why i really like bsnl…. Lol

My experience with gprs
As for a keralite, like me, the best service provider would be bsnl. Yes, its true. Now people will start to brag about how bad their customer service is, how hard is to get a connection and so on… But let me ask you something, does any other service provider give you free internet? 49ps per call feature without any packs? 2000 free sms without any pack? Almost double the coverage than the nearest provider? Hassle free duplication? Highly advanced sim services configurator? Complete tariff listing? Entire plan shift with a single sms? Free missed call alerts? Lowest redirect charges? Lowest mms charges? ……
No would be the correct answer. Yes, its true that bsnl don’t give their connections for rs10(worst case, some give for free), they don’t have flashy ads, they don’t have heavy advertising, they don’t have 5rs recharges …. ![]()
its lame for those people to say bsnl is bad. If you take into case, it stands at top. Also see in the case of internet. All other data provides have wireless modems for >3000rs with plans for unlimited connections with rent >1000rs but see the bsnl way…. 2500 for modem, 550rs per month for unlimited 2.4mbps internet. And the reason why its boring is that bsnl doesn’t have designer modems, doesn’t have big budget advertisements and catchy slogans…
Anyways. This much for the first post. More in next.

Trying out the quick press from mobile.
Obviously this must be the content area if successful.
Installed Ubuntu 9.04 via wubi, feels good
My leisure with windows 7 has been going on for about three months as i write this. Apart from a few tweaks and speeding up, i don’t see much change in the new version from vista, from an end-user view. But a lot has been changed inside, optimized many and best of all, removed many bugs.
The compatibility issues with vista has been a hell. Well, with the virtual windows xp and compatibility modes in win7, those are no worries any more. There exist a few problems with installing old drivers, and i hope this will be sorted out soon. Waiting for the release of the real hero behind.
Now a little about my ubuntu experience. It was nice neat and clean installation for me. But being a windows junkie, i found it really hard to do with navigation and file management in ubuntu. but as i progressed, it became a bit more techy, as you know.
Working with power shell in windows and terminal in ubuntu is thrilling. I don’t know why, still in the world of gddr2’s, ddr3’s, physyx engines and all i love to work with consoles. hehe
Well, I’m planning to write about my completely nooby experiences with ubuntu. as of day 1, installing updates and applications that are essential for me to be alive
Till then, adios
screwed up my modem, got it back
funny, i know.
i screwed up my modem and got it back from the bsnl office.
i know this is not twitter, but ought to write it, ;D

Finally, after a long wait, i get to peek at the latest Samsung N110 , said to be the true successor of the Samsung NC10.
Okay, enough laming, onto the review.
The lappy comes in a decent pack, as i bought it from a retailer, which you can find from : Find retailer
As with improvements, samsung has really put some hours into this one. The all new N110 has a 25.65cm (10.1) widescreen display, a whopping 93% full sized keyboard, and that too with anti-bacterial coating !
The battery life is a decent 8hour long, which is enough for your home-office cycle. The internal tec-specs include a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB DDR2 RAM (expandable to 2GB),1024 x 600 LCD, and a 160GB HDD. The laptop is ultra portable and is slim. The audio is superb and supports 2.1 channel audio.
The ergonomics of the N110 is just to the perfection. Well, what’d you expect?

The new and improved design now features a thin base, a glossy black finish, rounded corners and a neon-red trim lining.
The samsung N110
Some of the extra features include an 802.11b/g WiFi, 3x USB 2.0 ports, 3-1 multi-card reader, audio i/o jacks, Ethernet and VGA output.

Heavy Duty Piracy
How many of you are pirates?
Well, frankly, i am a customer of pirates who pirate pirated products !
By writing this article, i admit that i have downloaded 20 movies, 13 softwares, and 3 games so far.
BTW i am sick of this piracy thing. I had this frequent spyware and malware attacks that i had to format my entire HDD thrice.
Many sites when show us a link that says “direct download” we are sure that this could possibly result in a malware site. But i wanted to test my limits. I clicked and clicked on with my antivirus turned off. After some 8 or 9 clicks, i was taken to a site which showed excatly the file that i was searching for. With my curiosity, i clicked it. Blam goes my browser (chrome) it suddenly closed. when i thought something was fishy, i turned on my antivirus (avast, with latest update). And during the memmory check, about 16 trojans were running backdoor. Then used its’ boot time scanner to remove all those files.
Well, this is a small incident to me there are certain cases reported that heavy scripting caused system damage.
Piracy therefore pays, not literally though.
Now i am turned into opensourcing and freeware eventhough my platform of operation is still piracy……
